Andrea Pozzo - Trinità dei Monti - Rome

The wall paintings in the former Refectory of the Trinità dei Monti Convent in Rome, representing the "Wedding at Cana", were created by Father Andrea Pozzo in roughly 1693. The project included the restoration of all paintings in the hall as well as other interventions, such as the replacement of the windows and the renovation of the floors. The chief cause of decay in this instance was humidity in the environment and the capillary rise of damp in the walls, as well as natural damage by humans resulting from the area being used as the theater by a school within the convent. Andrea Pozzo created bold perspective illusionistic paintings, intentionally deformed in some parts, which demonstrated the unique character of his great decorative style.
