Palazzo Farnese project - Rome
The study of the façade which overlooks the garden of Palazzo Farnese was included in the conservation efforts at the French Embassy in Rome.
The study assessed the material contents, construction techniques and overall condition.
Close-up observation of the façade allowed the different categories of materials to be mapped: marble and travertine surfaces, brick masonry (cortina) and plaster masonry. Degradation on the façade was also mapped as a resource.
Samples of the materials were collected and the scientific analysis was completed for a technical report. The written report accompanied by photographic documentation summarizes all the data collected during the study campaign and provides recommendations for the restoration of the façade.
